Mysterious Read receipt from an Android user on an SMS Text msg

I sent an SMS Text message to an android/Samsung user on my iPhone 13 Pro Max but when I look at the message on my iPadPro there is a “Read” receipt without a time/date. Is this just a weird glitch or is this a real read receipt?

I’m running iPadOS 16.1.1 (20B101) and iOS 16.1.2 on my iPhone. I have no idea what version of Android he is running but he has a Samsung (whatever the newest model of galaxy note that was available December 2020 is the one he’s has)

Hello ikill4icecream,

Thanks for choosing the Apple Support Communities. SMS messages do not usually show a read status. We suggest updating your devices to apply improvements and bug fixes. Here is how.

After installation is complete, those apps are automatically reinstalled. If you tap Cancel instead, you can delete content manually from your device to add more space.
