New iCloud Terms and Conditions warning on Apple TV

My Apple TV keeps popping up a message saying:

"New iCloud Terms and Conditions

Accept the new Terms and Conditions using a device signed in to iCloud with the Apple ID "•••••". Requires a device running iOS 16 or later, or iPadOS 16 or later."

I don't have either of those devices. What gives, Apple? Why such requirements for T&C acceptance?

Here is what worked for me (I do not have iPhone or tablet and you cannot do this on a laptop - very annoying @apple).

  1. Go to the home screen on you Apple TV.
  2. Open/launch Settings App.
  3. Navigate to "Users and Accounts" settings item.
  4. Then choose the user whose iCloud terms and conditions need to be accepted. In my case my account was the default user. Click/Select that user.
  5. Scroll down to "iCloud" (it will show the email used for your account). Click on it.
  6. Sign out from iCloud (on your Apple TV)
  7. Then sign back in. Now you will be offered the opportunity to accept iCloud terms and conditions.
  8. If you agree with the terms and conditions, accept them (at your own risk, of course) and enjoy uninterrupted Apple TV.

These instructions should be on the Apple website.

You don’t need another Apple device. Your Apple TV most likely has a OS of 16.

On your Apple TV just go to Settings -> Users and Accounts -> Select the users Apple ID -> Log out and then Log back in. It’ll ask you to accept the terms and conditions and you’ll be good to go. It may take a few minutes for the User settings to update so be patient but once it does the message will no longer appear.

Same here, but I'll go you one better: I *do* have an iphone, and I *still* have no idea how to "accept the new terms and conditions..." How, Apple? I click OK on the apple tv, so that warning goes away and I can use it, but what do I do on my iphone? Nothing pops up, and when I open the apple tv app on my iphone there's nothing asking me to do this. Huh??

message to EricDu. You're the man ! I dont think im stupid but puzzles & tricks like this cause me to pause and wonder. What is wrong with Apple that they would cause such confusion? Is it like tv commercials, designed to illicit an emotion so you would remember? This is the craziest thing to do. I just want to enjoy my apple tv4k youtube End Times, Eschatology videos like CJ Loviks 2023 END-TIMES PROPHECY (70th Week of Daniel Revealed)

i have the same, tried all the solutions. There’s even a couple of articles on this bug and a twitter post with 950000 views on this very issue. It’s astonishing that apple has ignored this bug for so long. The only solution that was given was log in and out of iCloud, that was apparently from apple, but then they removed that as a solution because it does not work.
