Will the newest pencil (2nd generation magnetic 😗) overcharge if ALWAYS docked? Please advise as if it is like batteries on phone, computers, etc. They learn from their use. Some have indicated “ modern devices can’t overcharge” and others say they will. So really, which is it?

Unlike older battery chemistries, modern Li-ion batteries do not suffer from “memory effects” that were characteristic of Nickel Cadmium (and to a lesser extent NiMH) batteries. The biggest enemy of Li-ion is full discharge.
It is generally recommended that a second generation Apple Pencil should be kept docked with the iPad when not in use - as this ensures that the tiny internal battery is kept optimally charged when not in use. Charging only occurs when the battery requires charge from the iPad, optimal charge being entirely automatic.
Keeping the Pencil separated from the iPad when unused risks allowing its battery to discharge; if allowed to remain in this state, the battery will suffer irreparable damage. When the battery fails, the only remedy is to replace the entire Pencil; the battery is not a serviceable item.
An otherwise healthy Apple Pencil will suffer no negative consequences from being docked with its host iPad for extended periods.

You are very welcome. Keeping your Pencil docked with your iPad, when not in active use, will certainly go a long way towards extending the useable lifespan of the Pencil battery.
