iPad Air 5 and Apple Pencil 2 gen lag on notes
I got a new iPad two weeks ago and am noticing serious lag while I write. Any way to get around this?
they are both new and I don’t see why this should be happening.

A forced-restart may be helpful - as this will often resolve an isolated software or performance issue:
Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)
If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:
Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)
Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
While it shouldn’t be strictly necessary, a weekly shut-down and restart of your iPad may be beneficial - in particular if you a running iPadOS16.
Memory management within iPadOS16 doesn’t appear to be quite as effective as was apparent in later versions of iPadOS15. Over an extended period, cached data appear to accumulate, leading to a general loss of performance; a simple shut-down and restart clears much of the system data caches, restoring anticipated performance.
Shut-down is easily performed from iPad settings:
Settings > General > Shut Down
After shut-down, simply restart the iPad by pressing the Top (Sleep/Wake) button - and enter your iPad Passcode.
