How do you unsend a text or email

I have tried to tap and hold the message but nothing pops up saying, unsend or edit. What is the trick to it ?

iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 16

I think my problem is that I am trying to unsend a text to my android phone not an iPhone. I don't really have to unsend one I am just getting used to this new Toy .

I have worked out how to unsend an email . I was trying it from my Gmail account not the iPhone mail app and yes it does work with the iPhone mail app.

It almost 2 am here in Melbourne so I might wait until the morning to try and send or rather unsend a text to a friend with an iPhone but I think you have hit it on the head. It only works when you are sending/ unsending to an iPhone

PS you are correct I just googled it and it does only work with other apple devices

Hmmm... I see the options (Edit & Unsend) available after I send messages to fellow Apple users. I haven't needed to Unsend one before, but I sure get a lot of use out of the "Edit" feature 😂

Those options have some sort of time limit though. Example - It's hard to retract a message after they've already read it 😳

Although I do text a fair share of google (android) phones, I've never needed to edit or unsend any and I can't think if I've even tried to before 🤔

I also use the Apple mail app but I've never needed to attempt to unsend an email before although I know that it is within the realm. Those definitely would have to have a time limit though! The Outlook on my PC gives me 30 seconds to unsend one. They basically hold it for that amount of time and then send it on its way.

Try this: Go to "Tips" in your iPhone. Scroll down until you find "What's New in iOS 16" and click it. Scroll down until you find "Edit a text message"
