Wondering if this is a verification code for your Apple ID account that is requested.

How to: Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication - Apple Support

If so, perhaps you have another trusted device listed in your Apple ID account.

Eg iPad, Mac, Watch etc., that you can access the account with.

Eg: Sign in online:

Apple ID Log-in

https://appleid.apple.com

If you can access your account ok, you can change the phone number so you can get verification codes ok.

While logged in to your Apple ID Account:

Go to the Security section and click Edit.

If you want to add a phone number, click Add a Trusted Phone Number and enter the phone number.

Choose to verify the number with a text message or automated phone call,

and click Continue.

To remove a trusted phone number, click  next to the phone number you want to remove.

(Scroll to Update your trusted phone number on your Apple ID account page

Else:

If you can’t sign in or receive verification codes,

you can request account recovery to regain access to your account.

Account recovery might take a few days or longer,

depending on the specific account information you can provide to verify your identity.

Hope this helps you :-)

Changing the 2FA Phone Number:

Contact Apple Store Support:

These ae just User-to-User forums. You need to change this yourself. No on here has access to your Apple Account (which is a good thing, BTW). So, call Apple, informing an Apple Rep that you want to change the assigned phone number to your account. If permitted, the Apple Rep would make the change.

Apple Contact Info:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there, as necessary
  • Why the Wait: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

IMPORTANT: Perform a Trail & Error login session, prior to ending the call.
