Apple mail error

My Apple mail seems corrupt. When I delete emails they come back to my inbox. Then when I delete them again, it deletes ALL my files emails. Then an (!) pops up on the screen and Apple mail stops functioning. I delete the app and reinstalled it but it repeatedly does this. What could be the cause and how can I rectify it. I dont like using the Google gmail format.

Hello Beaumont5525,

We definitely wouldn't expect your emails to reappear in your inbox after moving them to the trash folder. To begin isolating the issue, let's see if the same issue occurs when deleting your emails after signing into your account here: Gmail

If this doesn't occur when using your email service provider's website, this would indicate a potential issue with the app. Installing the latest version of iOS can often address unexpected behavior with built-in apps, so let's start there using the steps in Update iOS on iPhone.

"At any time, you can check for and install software updates.

  • Go to Settings  > General > Software Update.
  • The screen shows the currently installed version of iOS and whether an update is available."

We hope this helps.

Regards.

Hey Beaumont5525,

How many email accounts do you have? If you have multiple email accounts on your Mail app, see if the same behavior occurs for those accounts as well.

Also, try logging in directly to the email service provider's website and check to see if the emails come back after deleting them. We're curious if this is only happening with the Gmail account and with the Mail app.

We'll be waiting for the results!

Best regards.
