My brother has passed how do I access his phone

How do I access my brothers Iphone to get contacts from phone or see apps? He passed earlier this month.

Unless you have the passcode for the iPhone, there's no way to access it. You can restore the iPhone to remove the passcode, and set it up again, but you will need his Apple ID and password to turn off Activation Lock after the restore. Restoring deletes everything off the iPhone.


You can request access to his Apple Account as explained in the support document you posted from, and see if he stored any contacts, photos, notes, email and calendar entries on iCloud by logging in with his Apple ID at https://icloud.com


For Apps, logging back into the restored iPhone with the Apple ID you requested access for, will let you see his purchase history which includes apps, movies, tv shows and books. link ➡️ View your purchase history for the App Store, iTunes Store, and other Apple media services - Apple Support


You can also log in with the recovered Apple ID at https://reportaproblem.apple.com to see a list of recent purchases.
