Setting up a new iPad it set up from the wrong device.

I set up a new iPad for my mom today, but everything that downloaded to it came from MY iPad instead, even though I had her phone next to the it and had it scanned in the circular screen from her phone. So, her new Ipad has my email accounts on it and all my apps.


Should I just just erase everything and start over? But how do I keep this from repeating? Have never had this problem before.

Hi there Janina,


You're right that erasing the device, so it can be started over as a clean slate and set up for your mom would be the best path forward.


Tap Settings and tap General > Transfer or Reset [device] > Erase All Content and Settings. If you turned on Find My [device], you might need to enter your Apple ID and password. If you're asked for your device passcode or Restrictions passcode, enter it. Then tap Erase [device].


Once the device is erased, make sure you each have your own unique Apple ID account, and follow the guidance outlined in this page to transfer data: Transfer data from your previous iOS or iPadOS device to your new iPhone or iPad
