Thank you for the photo.

Reset the Log In Password:

Reset it using the login screen. You'd go through your Apple ID to perform this. Find out more here: If you Forgot your Mac Login Password - Apple Support. Make sure that caps lock is not enabled when typing it. Another link that may help: If you can't Reset your Mac Login Password - Apple Support

Logging In to your Mac:

A. Boot in Safe Mode:

In Safe ModeLogin Items do not run at login, certain preferences are set aside, and damaged system files are then reset. So, once booted in to Safe Mode, wait 30 seconds, and then boot up normally, attempting another update install. For instructions, go here: How to Use Safe Mode on your Mac - Apple Support

B. Reset your SMC and your NVRAM:

(Applies to Intel-Basel Macs Only): Sometimes changes (i.e. Installations) are made to the system and then settings (i.e. Networking) become corrupted, technically. So, reset both on your Mac. So, reset the SMC and reset the NVRAM or PRAM. It might take three tries. to fix this. So, be certain you have the time to do so.

Start With This:

C. Disable Caps Lock:

Be certain Caps Lock is disabled when entering it

D. Use an External Keyboard:

See if using an external keyboard does the trick. If so, you may need to retinal the macOS.

E. Report this to Apple:

Apple won’t get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what their issues are out and about, and what fixes to include in updates to come.

To Leave Feedback:

  1. Go Here: Feedback - macOS - Apple
  2. Select: Bug Report” for the “Feedback Type
  3. Select: Bug Report” for the “Feedback Area
  4. Comment: that this all began after installing the macOS. Include the URL of this thread.
  5. Proceed from there as necessary

F. Contact Apple Support.

No success? See if your can go through iCloud on this. Talk to Apple on how to do so.

Apple Contact Us Info:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there as Necessary
  • Why the Wait: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)
