Update Apple ID settings

On apple iPhone 12pro a flag comes up to update Apple ID settings. I click on it and it asked me to enter my Apple ID password I do, and it goes to a a screen "Update Apple ID settings". Some account services will not be available until you sign in again. So I click continue it circles for 4 second returns to same screen. I have done this 50 times in a row and still returns to same screen accomplishing nothing. If I wait over a minute it will take me back to enter password for Apple ID screen again, and we start all over. I have been periodically attempting to do this for three or four months now. This will not go away! By the way my iPad using same Apple ID does not have the message. Can anyone help me?

Hi edwarbri,

Welcome to the Apple (user to user) Community.

Seems like you just need to sign in (to your iPhone) with your Apple ID.

Your Apple ID is the account that you use to access all Apple services

and make all of your devices work together seamlessly.

After you log in, you can use the App Store, iCloud, iMessage, Apple Music, Apple TV+ and more.

You might want to follow the steps for iPhone in Apple Support's article:

How to: Sign in with your Apple ID - Apple Support

All the best :-)

This is a software bug that started when iOS 16 was released. I had to change my password and I also turned on two-factor verification. So far this hasn't happened anymore but Apple needs to FIX it because my Dad, son, grandsons, daughter-in-law and all my friends had the same issue.

This is also discussed in other Apple forums like 9to5 Mac, etc.
