Just seen the discussion from earlier times about tags. But I still have problems. The red tag has simply vanished from the menu in the side bar. How to restore?

For a color tag to disappear from the Finder Window sidebar, it has been deactivated in the Finder Preferences > Tags menu.

When you reselect the Red tag (above), it will instantly reappear in the Finder Window's sidebar.

Hello ronaldfromaldeby,

To confirm, are you not seeing the option to for flagged emails in the Mail app on your Mac? If so, the steps listed below can help with showing the flagged emails. These steps are specific to the Mail app on Mac, and can be found in the following article.

  1. "In the Mail app  on your Mac, click the arrow next to Flagged in the Mail sidebar or the Favorites bar, then choose a flag. Only messages marked with that flag are shown in the message list.
  2. To show all messages in the Inbox again, click Inbox in the Mail sidebar or the Favorites bar."

Thanks Viking. That was most helpful. But I did not get it straight away, as here was no red tag to select! Then I discovered there is a pull down menu for each tag that can be used to turn any tag into any colour. And that one can also change the name of the tag. So one could call the red tag 'green,' for instance! But they can also be labelled with something more useful such as 'urgent, for example'. Thanks again. One learns something every day. Trouble is I tend to forget it all too quickly, again.

This could be a solution to those that I have seen in another discussion, where users were complaining that the OS update had altered the order of precedence of the colours that they used to classify and file their photos. I'm not sure where the order of preference is determined. Is it the order in which they are placed in the selection box? No; I see it is the order in which they appear above and that can be changed by 'drag and drop. That would be the easiest way of changing priority, I assume.
