Can someone send you malware through a .EXP and a .RAR file on iPhone?

Can someone send you malware through a .EXP and a .RAR file? I got two messages from someone I know and both were two different files which was weird. I have not opened them but I'm very curious considering they could have been sent like usual instead or at least both the same files?

No, an iPhone cannot open either of those file types. Or any other downloads that might contain malware, for that matter.
