No low battery warnings Ventura

I recently updated my Macbook to Ventura 13.0.1 and it doesn't give me low battery warnings anymore. My laptop has switched off several times unexpectedly because I use fullscreen windows and hardly notice the battery, which is unnecessarily frustrating. I have googled this problem and the only solution offered is to turn on battery percentage in the control centre (and being an option to turn it off on any device is the most useless idea apple has ever had) but this has not made any difference. Please advise because this is getting frustrating and my laptop is only two years old so it should not be giving up on me yet.

Agree and under Normal operations, there would be a " Warning " presented by the Operating System when the battery reaches a certain level.

Though, if the user has allowed the battery to discharge completely too many times and the computer has Auto Switched OFF, it may have damaged the battery.

In " System Information " applet, how may Full Battery Cycles are appearing ?

Batteries are considered Consumable Products. Over time it will degrade to a point where it needs to be replaced.

The usage is normal as the capacity will go up and down all the time and never stay always at 100%.

Apple Batteries are rated for 1000 Full Battery Cycles and / or 80% Capacity before needing Evaluation or replacement.

For additional reading on Battery and Apple Computers this link may help. About battery health management in Mac notebooks and especially for the M1 / M2 and Big Sur  & Monterey  and Ventura If battery charging is paused or on hold on your Mac

Depending on the Age of the computer, some aspects from the above links, may or may not apply to your computer.

A feature introduced into Big Sur & Monterey and Ventura was to preserve the number of Full Battery Cycles - there was an Algorithm coded into the macOS.

It is perfectly Normal for Big Sur , Monterey, Ventura to Pause / Suspend charging the battery beyond 80% and hold it at that level.

One can nudge / over-ride this by clicking the Battery Icon on Desktop Top Bar and allow charging beyond 80%. From observations, it will Pause / Suspend again once reading 90%. Same procedure to over-ride and will charge to 100%

Thank you for the reply but I'm not sure this really answers my question. My battery health says "normal" and the Cycle Count says 540. I have only had my laptop die on me a couple of times in the two years that I have had it because until about two weeks ago (when I did the update) it always warned me when the battery was low, so I would be surprised if that damage you mention has occurred. My suspicion is that this is a glitch with the operating system because it is too new and still has some issues. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Q - "My suspicion is that this is a glitch with the operating system because it is too new and still has some issues "

A - Easy to say but much more difficult to substantiate

A - A genuine " glitch with the operating system " would effect more than one Apple Laptop computer

A - Have an Apple Laptop Computer purchase March 17, 2021 that ran Big Sur, upgraded to Monterey and then upgraded to Ventura 13.0 >> 13.0.1 >> 13.1 .

A - By virtue of the user above assertion, this computer should be experiencing this Battery Issue, which it does not.

A - Arrive that you own conclusions

A - More often than not, issue regarding may aspects of the Computer and Operating System, barring Hardware Failures, are often times, self inflicted issues IMHO.

Download the Application Etrecheck directly from the Developer.

This is a Diagnostic Tool that makes no changes to the computer.

It makes a coherent and readable inventory of both the Hardware and Software used on the computer

The application is free or paid from added features.

The Report will Not Reveal Any Personal Information.

Post back the Full Report - copy and paste - >>>> using the Additional Text Icon ( 3rd Icon to last ) <<<<

We can have a look at the report for possible issues and may have possible suggestions to resolve the issues.

If the User ( you ) believe there is a Hardware facing or failed, yes take it to an Apple Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Centre for Evaluation

If the issue is a software issue - they maybe able to fix that issue. Though, if a software issue, even Apple Support has been know to use the same Etrecheck Application in certain situations to diagnose these types of issue

The User ( you ) could avoid the journey to the Apple Genius Bar to possible fix the software issue and avoid any additional Costs you may incur.

The choices are yours and respect the decision not to use the suggested application.

Should the User decide, at a later date, to run the Etrecheck Application and post the Full Report, we are more than willing to have a look at it and offer possible solutions.
