can an i phone s still be used

what version of iOS can I put on and iPhone s ? Our daughter needs a phone and we found mine in excellent condition. Just unsure if it will work

Hi my son and daughter both received ipad mini's years ago. Can they still be updated to the latest software for apple? What do we do with old ipad mini's? Can we trade it for updated products? Help
