Time Machine backup has two versions of my hard drive (?)

I need to restore some files, and before I go to migration assistant I wanted to see which backup had the files I wanted... 2022-10-22 or 2022-10-26. When I expand them I see two "versions" of Macintosh HD; Data and Data 1. Why are there two? Still waiting on file size to calculate, but if you look at the contents of Data and Data 1 there very different dates... Will migration assistant suggest these as separate backups? What the heck is TM doing?! LOL

Why is a TM backup file larger than my hard drive? I have a Time Machine backup file for an older MacBook Pro. I think the size of the hard drive was 500GB or less, however, the backup file is 815GB. How can this be? And will I have problems restoring this backup file on any hard drive that is 500GB or less in size? Maybe with the Migration Assistant I'll be able to pick and choose what to restore so I can make this work? Thank you.

Saving backups from Time Machine Have migrated old Mac to new Mac. Time Machine/Passport is asking '...do I want merge old backups to new... or keep separate...' What are the ramifications of each decision? Don't see any explanation. Thanks

How to do a New Full Backup with Time Machine Hi All, I'm using Time Machine with it since 3 years but I strongly suspect that I've compromised my backups integrity since I've deleted some of these manually in the past, so now I cannot trust more these backups. As far as I know, Time Machine works with incremental backup so what I would like to know is how I can redo a new entire backup from scratch of my MacBook pro? I'm on Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6 right now and I would like to update to Catalina (I can't update to latest OS version due to HW compatibility issue with some devices I have) and before do that I would like to have a full complete reliable backup of my machine, also in case in the future I'll need to downgrade the OS back from Catalina to Sierra. Any help we'll be really appreciated. Many thanks!
