ipad pro slow to load

My new ipad po is slow loading the content of emails (headings and subject line loads OK) and also takes a while to load some web pages. These questions have been asked before but run out of responses. But by now shouldn’t Apple have figured out what is wrong?

Hey Afallen,

If the issue seems to occur when using an app that requires internet access, it may be related to the network. Does this happen when using cellular data, different Wi-Fi networks, or both?

If it only occurs when using the cellular network, we suggest contacting your wireless carrier for help. They will be able to further look into your network status.

If it seems to occur when using a home Wi-Fi network, test a different Wi-Fi network possibly in another location to help determine where the issue lies. If it's just with the home Wi-Fi network, contact your Internet Service Provider for further assistance. They are the experts in regards to their service.

If it happens with app that needs internet access as well as apps that do not, follow the troubleshooting steps below. It addresses slow performance. For additional information about each step, click on this article: If your iPhone or iPad is running slow.

• Check your network conditions
• Close an app that's not responding
• Make sure you have enough storage
• Turn off Low Power Mode
• Keep your device from getting too hot or cold
• Look at your battery health

If the above steps do not improve the performance, review the section labeled "Get more help". There's a link there to contact Apple Support for additional help. They should be able to investigate this further with you.

Take care.

Afallen,

Thank you for this information. If your slow message download issue appears to be related to Wi-Fi, you can take a look at this article to troubleshoot your Wi-Fi network and connection: If your iPhone or iPad won't connect to a Wi-Fi network - Apple Support While the title of the article specifically addresses not connecting, it will also take care of issues where it is just a poor connection also.

Cheers.

You mentioned something about Duck Duck Go and Safari?

May I suggest, if you haven’t already, clearing the cache in Safari?

Here are the instructions. Clear your cache in Safari on iPad – Apple Support (AU)

Note that this will likely clear out any saved passwords and settings you have setup for websites, so you will have to re-enter those.

Please let us know if its fixed!

Thank for replying.

I don’t have cellular. Only wi-fi. I was using an ipad air on my network without any problems until replacing it with the ipad pro recently. So I don’t think it’s a network problem, but I’ll try another network when I can.

The frame of e-mails load but I have to wait for message content. There’s a pause before web pages load and sometimes messages posted don’t upload immediately or I get an error message, though sometimes the post appears anyway a minute later.

I just got an error message ‘your post could not be saved’ and was logged out! So I’m trying again.

I’ve tried re-setting the network but I’m sure it’s not a wi-fi problem as it has only occurred since I started using a new ipad pro recently, and other devices in use in the household are working OK, as was my previous ipad. The problem is not with the connection but the completion of tasks once the connection is made.

So no problem this time getting onto this site and reading the reply. But, once again, when I tried to post this message I got an error message in red below the message pane saying the post could not be saved, with a message in blue above the pane saying I need to log-in again to retrieve the draft message. So here goes another try!

And another …. (last time it took four attempts before the post succeeded). Five and counting….

Six…

Thanks for the suggestion.

I was on 16.1.1 and have now updated to 16.2, but it doesn’t seem to have made any difference.

Having the same problem saving this post as before. Second try… third try … fourth …. fifth … sixth

No luck so trying with a different web browser as this one seems not to have the loading delay

Well somethings not right, maybe you will need to try completely reseting the iPad and reloading from fresh.

e.g. Make a backup, erase it and restore from the backup. Or, if you have no data on it yet then just erase it and start again.

Sometimes some configuration setting that we users don’t have access to can get set incorrectly, or maybe some data that we cant see or delete is affecting the processing and a fresh install may resolve it.
