Express causes havoc with home internet connection.
Needed to extend Wi-Fi.
Connected Airport Express via Ethernet cable.
Internet slows, cuts-out, awful…..
Tried all options under “wireless” tab to no avail.
Is there a solution or should I repurpose it as a paperweight?

Do you want the Express to act as an extender for the Wi-Fi signal that is being provided by the Time Capsule shown in your profile, or do you want the Express to extend a signal provided by a third party modem/router?
Do you want the Express to connect to the network using only a wireless connection.....or....will the Express remain connected to the "main" router using a permanent wired Ethernet cable connection?
No matter which you want, there are settings other than the "Wireless Tab" that will need to be configured correctly for the Express to remain stable on the network.
