iPhone images not appearing in Photos

How do you fix iPhone images not appearing in Photos. I've followed the same task I've done dozens if not hundreds of times - same as Apples instructions. Plugged iPhone in, go to Photos and only 4 'new images' appear out of about 2000 on my iPhone.

Greetings wondrack,

We’re including the importing steps from the following article Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone or iPad to your Mac or PC. Instead of attempting to import new photos, you can select the pictures you’d like to import and import them. Also, keep in mind that if you use iCloud, you may be able to download your photos from iCloud instead.

Import to your Mac

You can import photos and videos to your Mac by connecting your device to your Mac. However, if you use iCloud Photos, then you don't need to import.
To import to your Mac:
1. Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac with a USB cable.
2. Open the Photos app on your computer.
3. The Photos app shows an Import screen with all the photos and videos that are on your connected device. If the Import screen doesn't automatically appear, click the device's name in the Photos sidebar.
4. If asked, unlock your iOS or iPadOS device using your passcode. If you see a prompt on your iOS or iPadOS device asking you to Trust This Computer, tap Trust to continue.
5. Choose where you want to import your photos. Next to "Import to," you can choose an existing album or create a new one.
6. Select the photos you want to import and click Import Selected, or click Import All New Photos.
7. Wait for the process to finish, then disconnect your device from your Mac.

Thanks.

Thank you for the reply wondrack!

What were the original source of the photos that are not syncing? For instance, were they downloaded from a browser or a third-party source? Or were these photos taken from your camera? This can help us isolate the problem and see if there is a common source.

Let's make sure your devices are up-to-date. If it is updated, let's restart your devices. Restarting your devices and making sure they are updated can resolve many unexpected issues.

Thanks for replying, wondrack, and that additional info. As a workaround, you can try using the Image Capture application on your Mac and see if it will import the pictures you are having an issue with:
