iTunes library file location issues
Can anyone tell me why since updating my PC to Windows 11 that iTunes is saying most of my mp3 files cannot be located? I use a peripheral USB memory stick to store my music (E:\ directory) that has worked just fine for years. Now I have this file location issue, and when I go to Edit>>Preferences>>Advanced and change the location of the iTunes Media folder to the E:// directory, it keeps reverting back to C:\Users\littl\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media, which has only a few music files within this folder. I've reset this location to my E:\ directory several times, but it keeps reverting back and the file location problem won't get resolved.
Also, when I try to locate individual files, I keep seeing the location of the files as:
file://localhost/C:/Users/littl/Music/iTunes/iTunesMedia/Music/Artist Name/Album Name/Track # Track Name.mp3
for example:
file://localhost/C:/Users/littl/Music/iTunes/iTunesMedia/Music/Jack White/Lazaretto/02 Lazaretto.mp3
I'm not sure why iTunes is assigning this localhost prefix to the C:/ drive and if that's something I can correct for all my music simulataneously?
When I do successfully re-locate a track, iTunes will ask if I want iTunes to use the same location for other tracks on the album (and other missing tracks from the entire library- all on the memory stick in the E:\ directory), but when I check yes, it comes back a few seconds later and informs me that it can find the 11,115 tracks in my library, so I'm confused.
Can anyone advise on how to remedy this issue?
