iPhone Activation Error

Recently my SIM stopped working on my iPhone 12 specifically (worked when I put it into my brother's iPhone 11). I tried everything to try and fix it and eventually tried to update it to iOS 16.2. When installing it, it kept getting stuck on the bubble that said "verifying update" so i ultimately tried to factory reset in hopes of the update force installing. Now I'm stuck here with an Activation error saying my phone needs to be update when setting up my factory reset iPhone. I even went on my Mac to try and download it straight from there but even there it was saying the activation failed. whats going on?

Visit your carrier, ask to check if the SIM tray is bent, as even a tiny misalignment can cause the SIM card to not fully connect with the internal contacts in your iPhone.
