When I copy something on my iPhone, WHERE is it copied to???!

You can paste anywhere you can type or reply. For example: paste into an email or email response, a text, I use Word and paste there. Sometimes, to keep what was copied, I will paste into a text message to myself. This way I have a record.
It is copied to a temporary location. The only way to access what was copied is to paste it elsewhere. Once you copy something else, the previous copy is deleted and replaced with a new copy.
Where is the temporary location at??
And paste it where exactly??
