New Siri remote, how do I setup IR to Power TV or Receiver On and Off?


Is possible to this with one button click a on apple tv remote?

  • turn off/on/sleep apple tv
  • turn on/off tv via IR command
  • turn on/off receiver via IR command

The preferred way would be for HDMI devices to signal each other through CEC, then IR isn’t needed for this.

CEC would need to be activated on all capable devices that either listen or send such CEC commands.

The power button on the Siri Remote (2nd and 3rd generation) is supposed to be able to send an IR signal to TVs as well. Not additional devices such as receivers, though.
