Has anyone with a 2017 iMac (preferably with a Fusion drive) successfully upgraded to Ventura or Monterey?
I own an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017) with a Fusion drive. I had problems upgrading to Ventura yesterday. I spent hours on the phone with Apple tech support to get my iMac back to it's original state of running Catalina. Luckily I had my Time Machine backup to restore from, though it took 8 hours to do so!
I'm planning to try again on the upgrade, and would prefer to do Ventura. If that fails a 2nd time, I'll try Monterey. I'm doing this partially because Apple no longer supports Catalina, which I currently use. I'd also like some of the new OS' features, though!
One of the Apple techs said that upgrades sometimes got glitchy while downloading over wifi. This time I'll try over ethernet, but I worry that my Fusion drive may be a complicating factor. When I first tried upgrading to Ventura, there were no drives to install it to. After that, when I rebooted to Disk Utility, my Fusion drives had split back into their HDD and SSD drives and were no longer formatted as a single volume. In fact, they were now unformatted!
