Permanent disabled phone

My iPhone 8 dropped and broke the screen, and I was trying to unlock it to transfer the data to a new iPhone, but the screen was doing its own thing. Unfortunately, the phone became unavailable permanently. I never backed up the phone foolishly or connected it to Itunes. Is there any way of getting the data off the phone and transfer to the new one? I tried the various online software, but they are not connecting to the phone if it is not in recovery mode. Your help would be appreciated.
