AirPods not connecting well to Apple Watch

So, my AirPods have always connected automatically to my Apple Watch SE. But recently, it just hasn't, so I go to Bluetooth settings and click on my AirPods but it always says "Not in Range" or "Make sure to turn on". So instead, I need to press Forget Device in Bluetooth and press the button in the back as if I were pairing it for the first time every time I want to connect them. My AirPods connect to my Mac Air and connected to my dad's iPhone but I just don't know why it won't automatically connect. Some days it will, some days it won't but its tiring having to do the same thing over and over again.

Hi there Lúa03,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. To help with this connection issue we suggest updating the software on the Apple Watch, as well as on the companion iPhone. Follow the guidance provided in the Apple Support articles: Update your Apple Watch

Update your Apple Watch using your iPhone
1.On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app, then tap the My Watch tab.
2.Tap General > Software Update.
3.Download the update. If asked for your iPhone passcode or Apple Watch passcode, enter it.
4.Wait for the progress wheel to appear on your Apple Watch. It could take from several minutes to an hour for the update to complete.

Update your iPhone or iPad

Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly
1.Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2.Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3.Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4.If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
5.Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

Let us know the outcome, and we can go from there if needed.

Have a great day!
