Pairing GoPro with iPhone 11

I am trying to pair a GoPro camera with my iphone 11 to use as a remote control. Although it has a tick beside Hero 7 black in my bluetooth mobile settings which indicates it has connected, the opposite is shown when - connections - connect device - GoPro app - pairing stopped are shown on the camera screen. I have downloaded quik as the app to accomplish this exercise, but after two and a half hours of trying every which-way. I am no nearer to getting my mobile phone to act as a remote. What am I doing wrong ?
