Epson Printer - Encryption Credentials have expired -Airprint

Not sure if you've solved your problem yet, but I couldn't get the driver solution to work for me either. So I found this and it worked - the printer time was off by 1 hour from my computer time. Looks like it was published yesterday.

We continue to have the same issue with our Epson, WF 3640. It seems like every month since the iOS updates started about a year ago we have to download the utilities package from Epson to continue to be able to print. I think there is something in one of the iOS updates that caused this to happen. My iPhone always prints just fine but our two MacBook pros and iMac need to have the printer utility package updated about once a month to continue to print. It’s a pain!

I was able to print using the ff steps:

1. go to your printer ip address using safari
2. go to the website first
3. up date and time under system settings
4. under network security settings go to certificate and update the self-signed cert
5. reload ip address
6. click view cert instead of visit website
7. select trust always
8. done

My husband found a low-tech work-around! He went to System Preferences on my 2020 MacBook Air, deleted the printer there, connected the printer with a printer cord via USB (through a hub, since the 2020 MacBook Air now only has USB C receptors), then re-added the printer in System Preferences and indicated that the connection was via wire. It worked! The Encryption Credentials Expired message has disappeared from the printer queue box and the thing just prints. Prior to this, I had also uninstalled and re-installed the printer software and updated to Ventura. I don’t know if any of that made a difference, but it sure didn’t work until my husband did his USB trick. Good luck, everyone!

Thanks to all for posting your solutions. I was able to get my WF-3640 printer to work again by installing these packages from the Epson support page: a) "Drivers and Utility Combo Package Installer" and b) "Scanner Driver and Epson Scan 2 Utility". As someone noted earlier, make sure you're selecting "macOS 13.x" as operating system, because the autodetection is flaky at best.

Did you try installing the larger "Drivers and Utility Combo Package Installer"? or just drivers? The drivers didn't do it for me, I had to install the complete Epson bundle. If this doesn't work, an alternate tack is to follow what VLime above posted, related to the printer's time settings. Good luck!

First, remove all instances of the Epson printer in your Printer/Scanner Settings printer list (click the remove button). You may have an Epson Uninstaller in which case use it to uninstall the remaining Epson software. Then install fresh the latest versions of the printer drivers and utilities. I think you did these things in a different order.

The specification from Epson indicates it should be able to Airport.

Has the user tried shutting down the Printer, than same to Router ?

The restart the Router and pause.

Restart the Printer and make sure it is connecting to the Router Wifi 2.4 GHz Band

Been using Epson ET 2750 in Big Sur to Monterey and now Ventura 13.1 and the AirPrint has been working fine throughout all three versions of macOS

I am in the same boat. I updated the MacOS to 13.2 in the hopes that there might help, but after having selected 13.x from Epson and reinstalling the Driver and scanner packages - the printer does not pause but still says that Encryption credentials have expired and the job just sits in the print queue.

Also if I try and print wireless from my iMac Pro running 12.6.2 - I get the same encryption error.. If I direct connect the printer to the iMac I can at least print.. Oh and I can print from my iPhone w/o issue as well.

Hi, JMB00, how exactly did you solve the problem? I followed the link you posted and downloaded and installed the driver and utilities package after upgrading my operating system to Ventura. Then deleted and re-added my printer, and I am still getting the "Encryption credentials have expired" message. Maddening! Apple clearly doesn't care that its computers don't play well with others.

I didn’t realize I needed to select from the drop-down the iOS version I was running, Epson said it detected a lower version than what I had on my Mac! Thank you for this! I’m hoping this solves my monthly problem.
