record two GarageBand iOS software instruments simultaneously ("Layer" MIDI Piano + Strings)

Using a low cost MIDI (piano) keyboard without the ability to layer or split keyboard sounds/instruments.

Can I do this in GarageBand iOS?

E.g. Can I have one track play a Grand Piano and another track play Strings simultaneously, to record or play live?

Thank you.

Hi there DeanPCal,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

The options available for creating songs in GarageBand for iPad can be found in the GarageBand User Guide for iPad here: Build a song in GarageBand for iPad - Apple Support. You can use the Table of Contents to browse through other topics on creating songs in GarageBand and learn what you can do with MIDI instruments.

If you need more help after that, we would recommend getting int ouch with Apple Support directly. They will have access to additional tools and resources to further assist with their apps. You can reach them here: Get Support.

Have a wonderful weekend.
