Ok so my son’s location is visible in Find My under the People icon but his device (his phone) is not visible under the Devices icon. My other son’s device is visible under devices, which gives me the option to “play sound” on his device if I need to. How do I make my other child’s device visible under Devices so I have the Play Sound option.

Are both your sons set up correctly in Family Sharing? Does every family member have a unique Apple ID? Is there any possible corruption of a iPhone’s ownership due to a previous owner not thoroughly cleansing it before passing it along? Carefully read this from the iPhone User Guide.

Open Find My on your iPhone. Choose the “Devices” tab. Note the header row shows “Devices” on the left and a plus sign on the right. Tap the plus sign, and choose “Add Other Item” from the drop-down.
I have already read that article, I read it before posting, but thank you. Both seem to be set up in family sharing with no issues whatsoever other than his device not being listed under devices. Each family member has their own unique Apple ID, and family sharing I am able to access everything I need to on his phone, including screen time, parental restrictions… Everything except for seeing his device in devices in the find my app. His phone was a new phone when we bought it so no one else has had that phone. I am so confused by this, so thank you for any help you may be able to lend.
