Dell U4919DW not connecting/requiring firmware update each time to connect

My MacBook16 was recently updated to Ventura (13.1).

Previously on Monterey, the MacBook always connected to the monitor at 5120x1440 by USB-C cable.

After upgrading to Ventura, the external display is unable to function using the same USB-C cable.

The tedious workaround is to use another computer, run the Dell U4919DW firmware upgrade procedure (which will detect no change in firmware), causing the monitor to restart.

On restart, the MacBook is able to detect the monitor and display in 5120x1440 resolution.

Is there a way to allow the external display to function correctly without performing this tedious workaround?

Troubleshooting this further, it appears that the monitor requires a power cycle.

The firmware (non) update worked as it performed a complete restart as part of its procedure.

A manual power cycle of the monitor's plug also performs a complete restart that then allows the mac to display to the external monitor.
