Confused about tracking if you have both an Apple Watch and an Iphone.

I have both an apple watch and an iphone. If my watch and iphone are not in the same location which will show up in Find My friends? Ideally would want the watch to show up only if I am wearing it (like I wear my watch to go out for a run and leave my phone at home) Is that possible? THank you!

Hello karenwinston,

That's a wonderful question! If your Apple Watch has a data connection when not in range of your iPhone, it will show the current location of your device. If the Apple Watch does not have a data connection, the last known location of your Apple Watch will appear in Find My. If you have a GPS and Cellular Apple Watch with an active plan, the current location of the Apple Watch will show on Find My when the watch is worn and your iPhone isn't in range or left behind.

You can learn more about using Find My to locate missing devices and items via the link below. You can also locate the Apple Watch via the steps listed below.

  1. "Open the Find My app.
  2. Choose the Devices or Items tab.
  3. Select the device or item to locate it on the map. If you belong to a Family Sharing group, you can locate the devices in your group.
  4. Choose Directions to open its location in Maps."

Use the Find My app to locate a missing device or item

Cheers!
