Apple Weather Keeps Adding a City That I Delete (and have never been to)

Do you have both an iPhone and an iPad, with both backing up to iCloud? I had this problem too, and I fixed it by having both my iPhone and my iPad open to the weather app, and deleting the same city in both.

I figured it out!! You need to edit the location set on the widget. I did this simply by holding down until it pops up with your choices. Choose edit widget, then you should see the location. Mine was set on New York! Happy changing your location peeps!

I was able to remedy the same issue by adding another city and deleting both. Hopefully this works for you too!

I remedied by holding the widget down, clicking Edit “Weather” and changing the location there. The app stopped asking me to add the random city afterwards.

Sure enough, when I held down the widget and clicked Edit Weather, the phantom city was listed. I click to change it to one of the cities on my list and the phantom city is gone. Thank you!

Clearly a bug.  I’m experiencing the same issue when deleting cities from a mobile device.  I have iPhone X, iPad mini 2, and MacBook Pro running 13.2.1

Deleting from my MacBook Pro works and syncs my other devices.

One problem is if you use a VPN and assign your home location to be "My Location" it will change every time you change a city or territory in the VPN.

Click the panel icon in the top left of your main Weather window. This will open a sidebar where you can click on Yacolt (if it is there), press backspace, and choose to delete it.

Search for your preferred local weather reporting location. It may or may not be close to you depending on where you are located. The National Weather Service has Yacolt as a weather reporting source, but its local forecast office is in Portland. I am uncertain where or how Apple's weather application obtains its data.

Yes, I’m having the same problem. I’ve added cities for trips I’ve taken and for other reasons and I don’t need them in the list any more. I keep deleting them, but they are back the next day.

Very frustrating and one of the many, many issues I’ve been having on all my devices since the latest round of updates. Software quality definitely took a huge step backwards.

I keep deleting cities that I added 6 years ago under Dark Sky. They always come back the next day. Also, the Apple Weather app keeps rearranging the order of the cities in my list. It also duplicates some cities and sticks them in a different part of the list. What a mess.

None of the fixes Apple support suggests or others posting fixes work and Apple doesn't seem to care no matter how annoying it is to any of us.

The frustration has reached a point where I am ready to delete Apple's weather app from all of my devices and computers.

The frustration is primarily based around the fact that Apple simply doesn't care enough about user experience with this app to fix it.

That did not work for me. Deleted cities keep returning. It is quite annoying.

It's a very annoying bug the Apple should fix. It can't be that hard to find and fix.

This has been happening to me for a few months... i keep deleting this "Wardensville" city on my list, and it keeps coming back within a day. SUPER annoying, and strange especially since i don't even know where that city is or what state it's in.
