Best chest strap to use with Apple watch series 3 for swimming heartbeat

What is the best chest strap to use with Apple Watch series 3 to accurately record your heart rate while swimming? Open swim, in the ocean. The watch itself is unreliable for heart rate while swimming.

AppleWatch Ultra and heart rate while swimmimg Since 3 days I'm a new user of AW Ultra (1.000€ in Italy). I've done a couple of swimming session in pool, and basically I've to say heart rate detection in water IS inexistent!!! I've tried to tighten the strap in more ways, but NO DETECTION, only some points. I think it is ridiuculos for a 1000€ watch, especially if we consider that 200€ watches like Garmin do it perfectly. I would say that my AW6 had a better detection than this new one. Any suggest?

Heart rate detection on dives with depth app I’ve been using my Apple watch ultra the past week during dives to try out the depth app but mainly to track my heart rate for daily activity and exertion levels. I am a professional diver and spend about 3-4 hours a day under water (shallow dives), and was hoping to use the Ultra for tracking all of the health metrics and not necessarily as a backup dive computer. I’ve noticed that the watch doesn’t do a single heart rate measurement when the depth app is open or I’m diving. Is there a reason for this? Or am I going to have to try to record each dive as a workout to force the readings. Not sure if this is an oversight with the app or a particular feature that’s been purposely omitted. Thanks!

Why trail loop compromises heart rate reading in swimming? Apple Watch ultra, most updated software as of 05/25/2023. Like many other owners, I have been rather disappointed that the Apple Watch Ultra fails to measure my heart rate when swimming, especially freestyle. Previously I owned Series 2 and 4, both were far more capable than this brand new Apple Watch Ultra. This makes the watch band type suspicious — so I bought a sport band (fluorinated rubber) just the same as I got with my old watches and swapped out the trail loop band that came with the Apple Watch ultra. Immediately I see an improved heart rate reading in swimming last night. So the question is, what exactly is happening here? Why does the trail loop band makes the Watch so difficult to read heart rate???
