WhatsApp Backup Stuck at Preparng

My WhatsApp backup has been getting stuck at preparing for over a month now. I checked this community and found the below but it worked just Once and I am back to Square One.

Now even after trying the below multiple times it does not seem to work AT ALL and stays stuck at Preparing forever.

Can someone please help

1) Open iPhone Settings> tap the username > iCloud > Manage Storage > WhatsApp Messenger > Delete Data.
2) Open iPhone Settings> tap the username > iCloud > switch the iCloud Drive off.
3) Launch WhatsApp.
4) Open iPhone Settings> tap the username > iCloud > switch the iCloud Drive on.
5) Create a new iCloud backup inside WhatsApp.

What i did was remove the auto lock. By so doing, the phone doesn't lock when you tap backup. So, tap backup and leave the whatsapp app open. I usually leave it on the backup page until its done. I hope this helps

I’ve been trying for days as well. I saw this on a website:

Click on “backup now” in WhatsApp and after just a few seconds kill the app; quickly open the app again and repeat. I only had to do this twice for backup to work.

personally I did it like 4 times and it’s fine now. But try as many times a possible.

Thank you for responding. Contacted WhatsApp but unfortunately they pushed me off stating that this is out of their support boundaries. Weird !

I’ve tried contacting WhatsApp support and this was their answer, so I asked them to direct me to the right place/person and they haven’t answered me.

Same issue here and it is frustration. I think will have to go back to good old machine back up into Computer for this!
