Through Youtube I discovered the way (in iOS 16.2) to strip backgrounds from my photos. When I view the photos on the iPhone, including playing them as a slideshow, they will appear with a black background. I cannot seem to move them to my MacBook or send them otherwise with anything but a white background. Has anyone figured out how to save stripped photos with the black background?

I believe the iPhone feature lifts the main image off the background, essentially leaving blank space around it which can be shown differently on different platforms and apps. You may want to copy the image then paste it onto a black background then share it.

I like to use the Preview App on my Mac for these type of photo edits as its more versatile with its available features.

As far as I know you can not insert it into an existing photo.
But you can create a Keynote presentation, with a black background and insert your section in this presentation.
Then you can export the content as a JPG.

It is not the most elegant way, but it will work.

What do you use for a black background and how do you paste it after copying it? I tried creating a photo with the lenses covered and got a black image. I copy the stripped image but cannot seem to paste it by holding a finger on the black image. What am I doing wrong?
When I want to add a color background, I usually just modify the original image. First, I copy the area I want to keep. This normally leaves the white and grey checkerboard background (when you see this, the area is transparent). After, I use Markup to add a color box over the entire image area then paste the selection I copied on top of it.
I pretty much only do this on my Mac so it may not be as easy in Photos for iOS.

Never used Keynote before, but it wasn't all that difficult once I got started, using the iPhone. It was harder to take the results and put it into iMovie using the MacBook, which I had used before, but every time I use it I have to relearn it. Thanks for the suggestion.
