Message sending to wrong contact

has anyone had problems with their messages going to the wrong person?

my daughters phone last week. When she was trying to text me it would send it to a different contact. Even is she typed in my phone number. Now I am trying to send a message to a child's coach and it is sending it to my brother in law. Any help how do I fix it?

Sending as SMS instead of iMessage to one contact. During a conversation with my husband my messages mid way stopped sending as iMessage. Now they will not send as iMessage. I’ve tried a few things that were suggested here but they didn’t stick. It’s only with his contact as I can still send texts to other people. I tried to see if it was my service so I turned on WiFi calling etc. no dice. Any suggestions? Hopefully this isn’t a persistent problem like the “location can’t be added due to person not having the newest iOS” even though we both updated our phones while sitting next to eachother issues I’ve been having. edit: Solution was he restarted his phone as well.

iMesage/Text issue When I send a individual message from my iPhone (14 Promax) to my daughter's iPhone (13) it shows up on her phone and is also sent to another phone number (she knows the person but it is not a contact in her phone or my phone). Looks like a group text but I am sending just to her #. When my daughter replies it goes to the other number and not to me. She said this started happening last year after an update. We used a different app to communicate but that app no longer supports SMS so that is why i am trying to get this to work. We both have signed out of our accounts on iPhones and iPad. We both have indivual Apple ID's are not sharing our Apple Id's with the other person. She had an iPhone SE 2020 before switching to 13 but it was happening on SE before the switch. I switched for a brief time to an android phone, still had iPad, and I am now back on 14. Trying to figure out if is something with my iPhone, her iPhone or carrier. Any help would be appreciated.

That's certainly strange behavior, and we'd like to help get this resolved on both of your iPhone models, starting with yours. Let's confirm more details to better understand what's happening, along with ruling out some possible causes:

Do you and your daughter each have your own Apple ID, along with being signed into your own in each of your phones?
When did this start to occur with your iPhone?
Is it occurring with more than just the one contact on your iPhone?
Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart: Restart your iPhone
If you have a compatible iPhone model, the latest version is iOS 16.2. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.
