I purchased iPhone 12 in 2021 December from Amazon. It is mentioning 5g compatibility in product specifications but there is no such option in phone settings. Why apple or Amazon misguiding in this. I just checked as 5g services have just started in my state. Who will be responsible for providing wrong info. Amazon asking to check it with manufacturer and not providing solution.

The iPhone 12 has 5G capability. You will need to subscribe to a 5G plan, and possibly obtain a new 5G compatible SIM card from your chosen cellular provider.

Amazon sold you the iPhone. Is there no option to return it. Take this as a learning experience, knowing to always purchase Apple peripherals and devices from Apple, as a way to avoid scams and such.
