Unable to send photos with my new iPhone to non-iPhone users through Messages

I can text with non-iPhone users from my iPhone but my pictures, videos do not go through with my new iPhone 14 pro. I can, however, send photos and videos to folks with iPhones.

Hi jcm53byu,

You started from a great resource: What is the difference between iMessage and SMS/MMS?

Regarding sending media content to non-iPhone users be sure the SMS/MMS option are turned on. Navigate to Settings > Messages and under the SMS/MMS section toggle on MMS Messaging.

If needed, the article here can assist as well: Send and receive messages on iPhone

Should you continue to have an issue, reach out to your cellular provider to ensure the feature and your account are provisioned to send SMS/MMS messages.

If your carrier states all is well, follow the steps here: If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone or iPad

Cheers.

I agree there is some stubborn tunnel vision from those falling back on the full diversion to the carrier issue. I was on with Verizon for three hours last night and no luck.

It’s telling is that my iPhone tells me that MMS messaging must be on for me to send photos (when I try to send one) but MMS is turned on. I just don’t know my my phone is confused about that!

I’ve tried everything suggested in this thread plus the troubleshooting last night and I still can’t send MMS pics.

And folks who are pointing to the carrier at all exclusion of potential iPhone issues, go easy. There’s always an outside chance glitches happen within the iOS system. Plenty of anecdotal evidence of that.

Unfortunately not. It seemed to work for a little while. So I finally did what Apple wanted me to do, my partner traded in his Samsung for an iPhone, and now it works fine. Interestingly now, my housemate can't send messages to our group now that my partner has an iPhone. Eventhough our housemate has and iPhone 14. He took it to Verizon, they claimed the issue was Apple, He went to Apple, they said it was Verizon, all because the phone my partner had used to be on an Android!

I tell you they are playing some serious games with us! And Yes on iOS 17 too

I’ve done two lengthy sessions with my provider (Verizon) to no avail (one of them 3 hours, tried everything short of a full restore). I can receive texts and media from Android users, can text back and forth, but I cannot send images, video or links. Always the same message “you must enable MMS.” But of course it’s enabled. Really frustrating. The iPhone also splits up group texts from mixed iOS and Android groups… so annoying…

Same issue with my iPhone Pro AT&T. I've tried everything Google referenced. Toggling MMS/SMS, Reseting Network Settings, Updating Everything, Toggling BlueTooth, Rebooting, etc.

I'm on the newest version of iOS (17.1) on all my systems, and every time I attempt to send a picture to an Android Phone (or a group text with an android phone) I get a message failure.

Hoping for some updates.

That's the problem, every time there is a iOS update it stops working, and at least for me the fix that "worked like a charm" just doesn't anymore. Shame on you Apple!

Same problem here. I think it’s dumb that we have to trial and error every type of setting; MMS , SMS, GPS it’s just all Bs! And i don’t know who struggles to focus more, me or my iPhone camera. Dang thing can’t take a clear photo without it trying to focus. Oh let me guess I gotta go through all kinds of settings just to take a normal pic? Buddy zoomed into the dang moon with his galaxy. Meanwhile my iPhone has all kinds of obstacles just to get a dang camera app open. Storage this, iCloud settings that, like just take the dang photo smh. And before we say AI is the reason he can see the moon clearly with his Samsung, we also went to a basketball game and his camera sharted on my iPhone camera.
