Find my iPhone (lost mode activated)

I recently lost my iPhone and put it in lost mode. The thing is I haven’t had service on it for years now but I do have access to internet hotspots almost everywhere. It was activated after connecting to Wi-Fi while providing me an address and email saying it was found. I played a sound twice and it was powered off within minutes of doing so. There is certainly battery on it and it has been offline for days now. I know something near me has it. What I can’t understand is that the address has changed but the time stamp since playing a sound hasn’t. Is there any reason/explanation as to why the location changed but the timestamp (in red) hasn’t?

Sidenote: I have contacted law enforcement but I don’t think they’ll do anything since it was first lost and now is stolen.

Hello JinxSixth,

First and foremost, make sure to start by following the guidance on this page: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is lost or stolen - Apple Support. It provides information on how to use Find My to protect your data, along with what to do if you lose your iPhone or think it might be stolen.

For more information on how the devices appears on the map and plays sound when requested by you, check out this page with more information about the Find My feature: Use the Find My app to locate a missing device or item - Apple Support.

Locate it on a map

1. Open the Find My app.
2. Choose the Devices or Items tab.
3. Select the device or item to locate it on the map. If you belong to a Family Sharing group, you can locate the devices in your group.
4. Choose Directions to open its location in Maps.

If you turn on Find My network, you can locate your device or item even if it's not connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network. The Find My network is an encrypted anonymous network of hundreds of millions of Apple devices that can help you locate your device or item.

We hope this information helps you out.

Best wishes!
