Device not showing

I recently bought a new iPad via my Apple login. I logged in to the new iPad with my Apple ID. I have two issues with it.

  1. I have not been able to use my iPad as a second screen to my MacBook Pro (which is only 1 year old so pretty new too).
  2. When I went to contact Apple support for help I noticed the iPad wasn't listed as one of my devices. How do I add it and why is it not showing?

Regarding item 1, check this article and be certain both the Mac and iPad meet the requirements shown.

Use an iPad as a second display for a Mac - Apple Support


Regarding item 2, you need to sign on to the iPad using your Apple ID to have it show as a device. If you have not done that, that would also explain item 1 as signing in is one of the requirements.


You stated you did sign in using your Apple ID. Check at Settings > [your Apple ID] to be certain everything looks OK.
