Videos transferred from iPhoto to external hard drive change color

I transfer my videos directly from my iPhone12 to my iPhoto app on my MacBook Pro and then directly to an external hard drive. Sometimes, but not always, the videos' color changes and becomes a weird sepia tone (that also changes throughout the video) when it has been transferred. The video looked normal on my phone AND in iphoto.

Has this happened to anyone else? I just bought a new MacBook Pro but this happened on my old MacBook Air, too.

Thanks!

Wow, that's weird! We need some clarification, though. You say iPhoto, a program that was discontinued several years ago and replaced with the app Photos. Do you mean iPhoto or Photos? Also, you don't tell us the operating system that you're using on your MacBook Pro. That would be helpful information.

The videos are apparently transferred successfully to your computer, but transferring them to the external drive is not working. What do you mean by "transfer?" How do you "transfer" the videos to the external drive? Do you use File>Export>Export xx Videos (in Photos) or do you try to drag and drop, or what?

Where is your Photos (or iPhoto) Library located? is it in your Pictures folder or on the External Drive? How is the external drive formatted? ExFat, APFS, Mac OS Extended (Journaled)?

Believe it or not, the problem could be related to the answers to each of those questions!
