SSD is full but Macintosh HD Disk is not

Hello!

My MacBook has been overheating, crashing, and shutting down, then showing a black screen with a folder with a question mark. Upon reading some forums, I came to the conclusion that this is a storage issue, so I deleted a ton of old files.

On Disk Utility, the Macintosh HD disk says I have 98.77 GB available. However, the SSD Disk is showing as entirely full. (Both shown in screenshots). The Container Disk shows 98.12 GB free as well.

Long story short, no matter how many files I delete, the SSD remains full, while Macintosh HD does not.

I don't know much about computers so forgive me if this is worded poorly or if I'm missing something super obvious!

Are there certain file types I should be deleting that I might be missing? What else can I do from home? Could this be some type of malware? Should I bring my MacBook in to the store? Many questions, lol! Thanks in advance!

What is the rationale for this major surgery?

The first picture looks different to 13.1.

On my 12.6.1 M1 the SSD graphic is a tiny bit blue (diskos1 524.3MB), then mostly red for the Macintosh HD (245.11 GB), and then a bit of gold (disk0s3 5.37GB). The bar is full.

The machine has no known issues.

I suggest the OP’s picture shows that the disk is fully partitioned.

Why to Perform this:

All would erased from the hard drive, and you'd have it all back when restored from Time Machine Backup. It would rid of all these clotting files and folders.

Your SSD is not full. Nowhere near full. (Your description is perfectly understandable)

I suggest you boot in Safe mode and run like that for a while. (Search safe mode)

Also search EtreCheck and run that and post it’s results as explained in any thread in these forums. These will help understand if there’s anything on your system that may be contributing, even a failing SSD.
