Unable to download apps on my iPhone 6!

My iPhone 6 is unable to download any apps due to software version 14.0 not being available ... is there any other way that my iPhone can download apps such as YouTube for example?? It is difficult for me to accept that I am basically screwed because Airtalk wireless had to send me a cell incapable of being everything but a normal functioning phone like most
