iPhone does not react to dock speaker connector

So I’ve bought a certified AUX-Lightning cable (for my car), that my iPhone recognises as an audio output source in 2/10 cases. The cable works perfectly with any other iPhone. Hard reset helps to connect the cable just for one time. After the cable is disconnected, the iPhone won’t react to it anymore. The "This accessory is not supported by iPhone" message has never appeared.

I suspect that there is a problem with my Lightning’s port. Should I bring my iPhone to a repair service or can I solve it myself?

Hello theuniversecreator,

Since restarting the iPhone temporarily resolves the issue, it does not seem that the issue is hardware related. It does look like your iPhone XS Max is in need of an iOS software update. The latest version of iOS is 16.2. You can follow the steps on this page to update the software and then test to see if it corrects the issue: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support.

Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
The Settings app on iPhone showing options to update to iOS 15.7 or iOS 16.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

We hope this information helps you out.

Best wishes!
