How do I view HDR photos/videos on my MacBook Pro?

The only way that I've found to view iPhone HDR pics or videos on my MacBook Pro in full range is to load them into the Photos app. No other application that I know of will show these files in HDR, but instead just the normal "flattened" versions. The extra screen brightness just doesn't "kick in" with anything but the Photos app.

I assumed that Apple was writing the HDR data in a non-standard or proprietary way, but even QuickLook and Preview can't show the real "pop" that HDR pics/videos contain.

After much searching, I still have not found anything. Does anyone know of a good HDR viewing app?

Hey jefish,

We'd be happy to answer your question. Using the Photos app would be the only native way to view your HDR photos as expected. If there are third-party options available, you can find them in the Mac App Store, but we wouldn't have any other recommendations we could provide personally.
