external storage not showing

I'm on an M1 Macbook Pro that's running Ventura 13.1. Before I updated to Ventura I was able to check the amount of storage on my computer AND and all of the external drives I had plugged in just by clicking the Apple logo (top left of screen) and clicking "storage". I have to go through "General" now to get to the same storage option, but it only shows my computer's storage and none of the external hard drives I have hooked up. Where did this feature go? I've tried a google search to find an answer and have had zero luck- hence me reaching out on here. I need this feature to compare how much space I have left on each drive.

An idea which should help sort things out may be to restart in Safe mode

and let the built in aspects of macOS try a minor repair; while you wait.

"Starting up your Mac in safe mode can help you identify whether issues you’re

experiencing are caused by software that loads as your Mac starts up."

A more specific article on same topic, tries to focus on OS Ventura:

//support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/start-up-your-mac-in-safe-mode-mh21245/13.0/mac/13.0

Yet idea is same one in above; just you are expected to know that.

Something else may have happened to your Mac's OS. Perhaps external

drive cables may have disconnected, without first being un-mounted(?)

Other more detailed means to know, such as 'Go To Folder' in your Mac

may be useful to get that information; unless hindered by an unknown.

Perhaps check under "About this Mac" from Finder's menu; see Storage there?

That should show most anything your Mac 'could see' in specific categories

to defy Google. They're not inside your MacBook Pro M1. But you should be.

The section 'find your way around' is among contents listed in this guide.

There are plenty more ideas in the MacBook Pro itself, within its System.
