MBP 15” Magsafe 2 connector overheating

When I charge the mac while I’m using it the charger becomes extremely hot to touch. The cable does not seem damaged and neither does the macbook any ideas why and what I should do?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 13.0

Pins 2 and 4 look a bit charred (1st image.)


A worn out DC-in board can cause your issue. This is a stand alone replacement part. If it is the cause a brand new magasafe charger may temporarily resolve the issue— however will soon wear out as well...


the DC-inboard in the 2nd image looks better.


If that is a third party— try a Apple branded magsafe charger and compare your results:
