iCloud only syncs my Purchased Music to my iPhone 12 - Need Other Songs for my Zumba Class

How can I get select non-purchased songs onto my iPhone.

I am a Zumba Instructor and want to start putting class playlists my iPhone12. Currently I use an iPod touch which syncs all the music from iTunes on my laptop. But now I want to selectively load songs from iTunes on my Laptop to my iPhone but continue full sync between my laptop and my iPod Touch. Worried I will not be able to do these two separate tasks. Currently only songs purchased are on my iPhone. The non-purchased music I need has been purchased via my Zumba License.

I have forgotten to mention, that clicking on the blue linked text will open an Apple help article, explaining in detail how to proceed.

What you will need to do is creating playlists to sync, and then select those playlists, instead of syncing the entire music library:

  1. Open the Apple Music app or iTunes.
  2. In the menu bar, choose File > New > Playlist.
  3. Give your playlist a name.
  4. Drag and drop music to your playlist in the sidebar.

Then connect your iPhone to the computer, open iTunes, select the device, just like you do with your iPod:

Then select to sync "Selected playlists..." instead of "Entire music library" in the right side of your iTunes window.

If you selected the option to sync playlists , a new menu will be shown, giving you the option to check the box in front of your created playlist, albums, etc.

After that click on "Apply" to start syncing.

Sorry for confusing you, if I understood correctly, you have been syncing your music, that is part of your iTunes library on your computer, to your iPod Touch.

And now you want to sync songs to your iPhone as well, and you are afraid, that syncing to a second device will mix up the content on your iPod Touch.

Syncing to more than one device will not change the content on other devices. Your iPod Touch sync settings will stay the same and you can set up different sync scenarios for your iPhone or any other iOS device you connect to sync content.

One more thing: You don't need to add another app to your iPhone, the iTunes app on your computer has been renamed to "Music" on the iPhone.

If you connect your iPod Touch again after syncing your iPhone, iTunes will remember the settings for syncing for each device and show you the latest setup for the device currently connected.

So in your case, with the iPod connected you will see, that syncing your entire library will still be selected.

And if you connect your iPhone, iTunes will show the previous selected items to sync for the iPhone, syncing the entire library should be not enabled and the selected playlist and/or albums, artists... will be shown.

Newer iPhone models come with the USB-C to Lightning Cable, which can be used, if your PC or Mac has an USB-C port instead of an USB-A port.

You can also use this USB-C to Lightning Cable to charge your new iPhone, connecting it to an Apple USB-C power adapter.

Status Report :)

When I plugged my phone into my PC where iTunes Resides, it immediately initiated an iPhone Software Update. It was slow to download the software because it's doing it via my PC. At this time 11:28am Jan 13 it is preparing to update the software. I guess I should have verified that my iPhone 12 Mini SW was up-to-date before i started...
