two users with one avatar?

Hi,

On my MacBookAir I have 2 different users with 2 different AppleID's. When one of us changes his avatar, the other one changes aswel. So the two users/accounts always keep the same avatar no matter what we do.

How can we have our own avatar without changing the avatar of the other user?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 13.0

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and change the pictures for both users from there. Reboot normally and check to see if the changes stuck.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

Hi Johnnyboy,

Thanks for your reply. Each time I change my avatar the other one "flickers" (when I open system settings in the second user account) a moment and changes into the changed avatar of the first user account. Sometimes I see the "original" avatar from the other user in the system settings but it changes after closing and opening the system settings. Seems to be random.

I tried your suggestion with test account and ... it doesn't change when I change an avatar of the other users!

What do I have to do to keep having the two avatars according to their own user? If the test user works fine, why don't the other two?
